Personal Assistant/Rehabilitation Support Worker – Hunstanton

Are you experienced in working with a client with an acquired brain injury? Are you enthusiastic about supporting clients to live a full and active life, enabling them to access and enjoy hobbies, activities and social situations? If so, this could be the role you are looking for.

The Client

John is a gentleman in his 50’s who lives independently in his home but requires an element of support from a PA/Rehabilitation Support Worker who is experienced in working on a one-to-one basis with a client. John has family close by and he maintains regular contact with them and he also enjoys going out and about, attending community events, visiting the local pub and interacting with others.
John suffered a traumatic brain injury as a result of a road accident when he was in his 20’s which has resulted in some cognitive defects, memory issues, increased levels of fatigue and general mobility difficulties. John is independently mobile with the help of his walking aids and a mobility scooter which he uses when out and about. John’s receptive language is good however as a result of his injury, John’s speech can be hard to understand at times and he can struggle more with expressing himself verbally when tired.

Hobbies & Interests
John thrives on a structured timetable of activities and outings which enable him to mix with others and help to prevent a feeling of social isolation which he can be prone to. John regularly attends a number of local social activities and amenities including friendship and community groups, activities at the local library and going for a drink at his local pub. He is a passionate sports fan and especially likes to watch motorcycle racing and football on the TV; John supports Manchester United and loves to watch their games and monitor their progress each season.

The Role

We are looking for a PA/Rehabilitation Support Worker who will bring their experience and knowledge of a similar role to enable John to continue doing the things he enjoys and promote his independence.
You will be required to support John within his home environment, which may include some household tasks and ‘life admin’ as well as using a creative approach to find other hobbies to create a stimulating home environment, or alternative pursuits he might try within the community.
The successful candidate will be required to encourage engagement with others within the community and promote appropriate communication. John may sometimes benefit from help with decision making, organisation and recognising when tired and in need of a rest.
It is a requirement of the role that you hold a full, clean UK driving licence and are able to use your own vehicle to transport the Client on occasion.
