Female Waking Night Support Worker – Ewell, Surrey

An opportunity has arisen to work as a *Female Waking Night Support Worker with an engaging 18 year old young woman, based within the private family home in Ewell, Surrey.

The Client

Jasmine is a bubbly young lady with a particularly love of music and she also enjoys a pamper session, having her hair styled and her nails manicured. During the day, she likes to go out for walks, for a drive in the car and going swimming. She has a great sense of humour and needs her Waking Night Support Workers to be positive and proactive in the support they provide.
Jasmine suffered a brain injury at birth which left her with cerebral palsy, epilepsy, visual impairment and learning difficulties and therefore requires support in all areas of her day-today life.

The Role

We are looking for a new *Female Waking Night Support Worker to join the established care team providing an attentive and high level of care to Jasmine during the night where she requires continuous monitoring, in particular of seizure activity, and will need repositioning and personal care during the shift too. Jasmine can sometimes wake from sleep in distress and requires calm reassurance; as you attend to her physical comfort, as well as her emotional wellbeing during the night ensuring a calm, soothing and reassuring environment.

The successful candidate will also need to be proficient in medication administration, record keeping and be willing to learn Jasmine’s communication strategies as she is non-verbal.
There is an expectation that the *Female Waking Night Support Worker will undertake certain client-related domestic tasks during the night whilst maintaining vigilance in the monitoring of our Client.
Working as a *Female Waking Night Support Worker with the team, you will play a key role in providing support in a busy and thriving family home.

Rates of Pay

Monday to Friday: £15.00 per hour
Saturday & Sunday: £17.00 per hour
Bank holidays: 1.5 times usual weekday hourly rate

Hours of Work

Thursday, Friday & Saturday: 22:00 – 08:30 (10 hours and 30 minutes per shift)

Person Specification

  • Experience of working with complex needs would be an advantage;
  • Experience of working as a Waking Night Carer is essential;
  • Calm but positive personality with a good sense of humour.
