Care Team Manager – Loughton, Essex
An exciting new opportunity has now arisen for an experienced Care Team Manager to join this newly established, directly employed care team providing 24 hour care to our Client.
The Client
Daniel is an engaging and happy 10 year old boy who lives with his parents and younger brother within the family home in Loughton. The adapted home has been fully equipped to provide for Daniel’s care needs and to ensure he has safe, easy access and movement around the home.
Daniel has complex care needs as a result of injuries sustained at birth, including cerebral palsy, epilepsy, global development delay and associated learning disabilities. Daniel is not independently mobile and nor is he able to communicate verbally, although he can make some sounds to communicate his emotions. He requires support in all areas of his life, including drinking and feeding via his PEG, medication and personal care.
Interests/Hobbies
Daniel enjoys many different activities and pastimes; he loves water play and going swimming and bowling within the local community. He especially enjoys tactile play and activities which create a sensory experience for Daniel also help to ensure his days are full of fun and laughter.
Daniel is an endearing boy who thrives on time spent with his family and in the company of positive and happy people. The family like to visit relatives who are located overseas annually and the ability to accompany Daniel on these visits would be an advantage.
The Role
The role of Care Team Manager will be fundamental to the running of the newly appointed, directly employed care team who provide 2:1 care to Daniel 24 hours a day. It is expected that the successful candidate will have prior experience of a Team Leader or Team Manager role.
You should be a calm, professional and inspiring leader whose primary focus will be on the safety and wellbeing of Daniel, whilst ensuring that the care team are supported to provide the optimum level of care to enable Daniel to continue to thrive.
You will be required to work closely with the team of therapists who devise the appropriate therapy programmes for Daniel and will ensure that each of the care team are suitably trained to support and implement these programmes. Management of the care team will include the recruitment and training of all staff, holding probationary review meetings and regular supervisions, ensure training is up-to-date, as well as the accurate maintenance of all documentation relating to care planning.
You should be able to work closely with Daniel’s parents as well as the case manager, therapy team, education providers and other professionals who are involved with the care package to ensure a seamless and cohesive provision. This should be continually under review to ensure that appropriate rehabilitation services are identified and coordinated using a multiprofessional approach.
Rates of Pay
We are offering a competitive salary of £43,680 per annum for this position.
Hours of Work
The Care Team Manager role is a full time role, working 35 hours per week on a rota basis, Monday to Sunday. Whilst the working hours will primarily fall within the day shift hours of 08:00 and 20:00 daily, there may be occasions when you are required to provide overnight support.
It is expected that the successful candidate will be able to offer flexibility to ensure that they work alongside all members of the care team from time to time, to maintain accessibility and professional relationships, as well as to ensure that care standards are maintained.
Person Specification
Candidates should have demonstrable leadership skills and previous experience of managing a care team. In addition, candidates should match the following criteria:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with children, young people or adults with disabilities, neurological conditions, or special educational needs;
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with clear verbal and written communication skills including report writing and be IT literate;
- Competent in care planning, activity planning, risk assessing and management, and able to identify, organise and coordinate outings, access to specialist services, and equipment;
- Able to work on own initiative, be organised, reliable and punctual;
- Proficient in maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality within the workplace, with the understanding and sensitivities required when working within a private family home;
- Have a qualification in Health & Social Care or in an educational capacity;
- Be familiar and knowledgeable of The Care Act 2014;
- Hold a full, clean, UK driving licence.
